Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah this winter we focused on organizing unique programs for young adults at Al Falah. For those of you who were not able to join here is a small tidbit of what took place!
The 2016 Al Falah 4ON4 Tournament which featured Imam Yasin Dwyer (Muslim Chaplain at Ryerson University) took place on December 27th. Imam Yasin's enlightening presentation focused on cultivating a strong Muslim identity. The Al Falah 4ON4 boasted a fun filled day of basketball, learning, food, prizes (RAPTORS TICKETS) and more!
Our inaugural "Outside the Circle" session featured Omar Zia (DawaNet) and Steven Zhou (CBC News). The guiding questions for the evenings discussion were Who are we and where do we stand? The discussion highlighted the individual and collective challenges being faced by Muslims and was held within a personal, social and political context. The Outside the Circle series aims to bring our community together and curve a path towards our collective future.
After the successful Open House in September at Al-Falah, it was agreed to expand the initiative to the entire Halton Region. We are excited to be working alongside the Halton Islamic Association and Islamic Community Centre of Milton. We will have joint event marketing and share our resources for greater impact and effectiveness. Event date will also coincidewith Doors Open Ontario so we can reach the wider community. More details to follow Inshallah.
